Taking a Bite Out of the Big Apple

Ahhh, New York City…there’s so much to say here. The train ride to NYC from Philly is only 1.5 hours so taking a last minute day trip is easy to do. I was very fortunate to have been able to spend 2 weeks there this summer. I went to a Mets game (go PHILS!), explored the 5 boroughs of the city and experienced many different ethnic cuisines.

Whether you consider yourself a foodie, epicurean or gourmand, there is something for everyone in terms of cuisines here in NYC. My friends and I got birria tacos from Casa Birria and had a picnic in Central Park (because tacos are the perfect picnic food, right?). The tacos were absolute perfection! Also, in NYC, you can find a bagel shop nearly on every block. My favorite bagel place in NYC is Ess-a-Bagel. They have 4 locations across the city with their original location located in Gramercy Park which opened in 1974. In the pic above, I am eating an everything bagel with a generous shmear of plain cream cheese. YUM. Additional culinary adventures included my first ever hot pot in Chinatown (my taste buds were awakened that day) and possibly the best ramen I have ever had in my entire life!

Stay tuned for more NYC excursions and adventures…
